THE
WHO'S WHO OF BEXAR COUNTY SUCKERS
Carla Vela And
The $200k Question
Some Of The
Chumps, In No Particular Order
SAL Political
Snitch 2-28-2010
(Editor's Note: This is part two of
a story originally spawned by the $200,000 that
vanished from Bexar County Democratic Party's
bank accounts. Ex-Chair Carla Vela resigned the
same day she broke the bad news about the
long-gone lucre and Ex-Treasurer Dwayne Adams,
who admittedly took the cash, but maintains it is
"a bookkeeping mistake." (See story
below.) Now Vela is running for County Clerk.
Adams is running for cover. Local news outlets,
for the most part, have elected not to touch this
yarn. Political protection? Fear of retaliation?
Looming primaries? Who knows?)
It seemed too sweet, at least to all
but the greedy.
"Give us $30,000 and well
give you $700,000 free and clear."
Political bagman Dan Barrett, under
the protection of Commissioner Paul Elizondo,
helped convince the following suckers to take the
plunge into the glittery waters, right above the
sharp, hidden reef.
* * *
Some of the
chumps in no particular order:
Carla Vela: Invested:
$25,000 (Former Chairman of the Democratic Party,
Candidate for County Clerk.)
* * *
Dwayne Adams: Invested:
$80,000 plus. (Former Treasurer of the Bexar
Democratic Party
* * *
Elena Guajardo: Invested: $30,000
(Former San Antonio City Council member. Her call
to Zachry Construction led to the suicide of a
constituent after he was fired for sending a
complaint to the councilmember.)
* * *
Alice Guerra - Political Consultant
- Owner of GTO Advertising
(Guerra is a
born-again Christian and consultant to judges and
candidates.) Invested $7,000.
* * *
John Bailey: Invested: $40,000 +
(Bailey was brought in by Dwayne Adams who
convinced him this was a great way to make big
money. I am sure he regrets the day Adams sucked
him in. Dwayne, for the record, tried to get that
money back with little success.)
* * *
Henry aka The Baker:
Invested: $6,000 (The Baker we have
been told is ready to fry Dan Barrett for not
paying up.Listen, someone recently died in the
Bakers kitchen. Really. Dan, pay this
guy, and soon.)
* * *
Jesse Garcia: Invested: $150,000 +
(Retired veteran and coach.)
* * *
Tim Valenzia: Invested: $50,000 +
(This is Barretts personal driver whom Dan
ran over and left in a ditch.)
* * *
JoAnn Ramon: Owed $3,000 (Southside
political consultant.)
* * *
Linda Nolt Jones: Owed $20,000 for
in kind professional services.
* * *
Charlie U. Jones: Owed $40,000 for
in kind legal services.
Mysterious Ilona: Invested: $30,000
plus.
* * *
Dwayne Adams Brother in Law:
Invested: Unknown (This brother-in-law currently
works for the Federal Government.)
* * *
The Legal Team: The following
lawyers were involved in development of the
scheme, according to political whisperers.
Forest Welmaker
Jeff Anderson
Charlie U Jones

The initial funds for this
dancing-for-dollars deal originated at IBC Bank,
based in Laredo. This is the institution once
reputed to be the haven for drug money from
Mexico.
Two years ago, IBC Bank owner and
former GUV candidate Tony Sanchez was livid when
millions of the questionable greenbacks were
transferred to Jefferson Bank, based in San
Antonio. The pot grew to more than $100,000,000
insiders claim.
Deloitte & Touche, a "Major
international accounting and consulting
firm" was instrumental in helping transfer
the money to Frost. It is claimed by some that
the Piggy Bank has grown three fold.
And what about Dan Barrett, the
Bagman?
Over the past 4 months, Barrett has
suffered at least two major medical scares that
have landed him in the hospital. He came close to
death in December.
His dysfunctional personal life
includes non-payment of child support. Dans
friends have pulled him out of the abysss on
numerous occasions.
Barrett has, supposedly, lost
everything over the past few years including his
home, his insurance agency book of business and
the partial use of one of his eyes.
There is one thing he continues to
maintain, besides his weight. Dan continues to
enjoy the faith of powerful Dem politicos.
Dan Barrett's pigeon drop operation
was aided by his political connection to County
Commissioner Paul Elizondo.
Barrett currently holds a $1,000,000
consulting contract with Bartlett Cocke.This is a
construction company with many contracts approved
by Godfather Elizondo.
Consider this: How would a
third-rate health benefits agent become a
consultant to a major construction company for
such big many?
Tattlers tells us The Commissioner
has a goal of stockpiling $1,000,000 before he
shuffles off this mortal coil. Does Hell have an
IBC branch?
Barrett was able to pull more than
two dozen investors into the scheme because he
gave them the impression he would help them win
county contracts due to his connection to The
Godfather. It is a house of cards, based on a
perception of power, rooted firmly in greed.
What about all the rubber checks
written to payoff investors? Dan developed a
clever method designed not to repay the
suckers.
Every month, Barrett received a
$6,800 commission check from Humana. (Dan, with
his political clout, won a school district health
insurance contract.) Dan would rush to the bank
and pull out the cash when Humana made the
deposit. The chumps took their lumps. They never
had a chance.
The suckers fell for the one of
oldest rinki-dinks since the case of Adam VS the
Apple. They believed in Dan and his cohorts. Dan
convinced Dwayne Adams and Carla Vela to invest
funds from the Democratic Party, only to see it
whisped away.
Shame on Carla and Dwayne. Where I
come from we call that embezzlement.

Ponzi Here, Get Your Ponzi
Carla Vela And Pal Dwayne Adams got
skinned
SAL Political Snitch (Posted at 3PM 2-24-2009
Has everyone forgotten
'bout the missing money from the Bexar County
Democrats purse?
$200,000 or thereabouts was
taken by treasurer Dwayne Adams, and never
accounted for. This all happened under the
watchful eye of former Dem Chairwoman Carla Vela,
who resigned and is now running for County
Clerk...you know, the office that is charged with
keeping a watchful eye on your money.
Carla Vela and Adams have
been chummy for quite a while, and involved in
biz deals, including the one of which I am about
to tell you.
* * *
6 ½ years ago Raul and
Mark Velasquez, a father and son team, won a
legal settlement of $1,500,000. The two were set
to receive annual payments. There was only one
"catch." They needed access to the big
money to pay taxes before they could get the
bigger money.
Enter Dan Barrett,
insurance agent and bagman. Under the political
protection and cover of Godfather Commissioner
Paul Elizondo, Barrett set up a fancy scheme to
extract close to $1,000,000 from local victims,
hereinafter called "suckers."
More on Barrett next
week
.

The Lightning will be
releasing the names on the suckers list, and how
much they each Invested. It is astounding.
Carla Vela's name is among
'em.
Below are two documents
showing that Adams Invested $20,000 to the
scheme. How a broke, failed businessman came up
with that kinda money is a miracle. I wonder
where he got the long green with a short future?
What about that $200,000
that is missing from the Democratic Party. Could
that be involved?
Here is an invoice for the
expected $52,000 payout.
And here is a demand letter
from Adams demanding a $700,000 cash payment in
return for an investment of $20,000.
